Negril

Includes Negril historical sites, Ricks Café watching the sunset and shopping.

If you want to leave your inhibitions behind, Negril is the place to go. Here, beautiful beaches, some of them clothing-optional, host crowds interested in partying their cares away. The East End features upscale hotels, while the West End is a throwback to the popularity Jamaica enjoyed in the 1960s – a more free-spirited and bohemian style of vacation, featuring local restaurants and modest cottages. Negril is an open invitation to have a great time.

See more:  Jamaica is the home of the most beautiful sunshine.  It’s a must that you visit Ricks Cafe in Negril to watch the Sunset, enjoy the beach and see some diving by the locals.

Hedonistic Negril beats to a reggae pulse. Major tourist areas are Seven Mile Beach, home to adult-oriented resorts, and the West End, with smaller, more laid-back accommodations and beaches, shops and restaurants within walking distance. Get a cool drink and watch the sunset. Gaze at dramatic Negril Cliffs, which provided backdrops to James Bond’s “Thunderball.” If your hotel doesn’t offer a shuttle, take minibuses. Or set a different pace and trot off on a horseback tour.

Jamaica’s shrine to permissive indulgence, NEGRIL metamorphosed from deserted fishing beach to full-blown resort town in little over two decades. American hippies first started visiting what was then a virgin paradise in the 1970s, setting the tone for today’s free-spirited attitude, but these days, the presence of deliberately risqué resorts like the infamous Hedonism II has ensured that Negril is widely perceived as a place where inhibitions are lost and pleasures of the flesh rule. The traditional menu of ganja and reggae draws a young crowd, but the north-coast resort ethic has muscled in too. All-inclusives of every ilk pepper the coast and hotels line every inch of the beach, while hustling has increased to an irritating degree.

Located 15 minutes outside Negril, this 900 acre private property is considered a Nature Lover’ Paradise. The property offers a family type setting: a huge lawn almost the size of a soccer field, many species of flowers -mexican bell, poorman orchid, aloe vera, canna lillies (four different colours), coconut trees, and an abundance of fruit & medicinal trees. The trees are labeled to assist visitors in identifying the names of trees that they might have been introduced to in Jamaica, as well as being part of the regular visitor tours.

Bird Watching – Our bird watching tour allows our visitors to capture images of Jamaica’s endemic species.

Horseback Riding – The property offers the longest horseback riding beach tour in Jamaica.

Negril shrugs off such minor issues and remains supremely chilled-out. Pristine miles of sand, comprehensive watersports facilities, open-air dancing to first-rate live music, a wide range of eating and drinking joints, gregarious company and the best sunsets on the island are all on offer. Many foreigners have stayed on permanently, blurring the distinction between tourists and locals and making for a relaxed, natural interaction that’s a refreshing change from other resorts
